Street Beat

Street Beat is an after-school Arts programme set up to develop the natural talents and give way to the artistic expression of the kids.  A few of the activities include Drama, Dance, Visual Arts, Voice, Mime, and Music (instruments).

The streets of Down Town come alive as activity stations are set up in strategic locations throughout the community rather than within the walls of a school or community centre.

The stations will be set up in ‘available’ areas prepared for each activity.  For example, a station may be in a community park, on a street corner, or in an old warehouse.  One of the goals of the programme is to instill an overall sense of pride as residents assist in the preparation of stations and take part in the activities directly outside their doors. .

The Street Beat programme also gives many professional and naturally gifted individuals from outside the community the opportunity to get teach and to help out in a meaningful and practical way.

CLM invites individuals and groups to partner with us and to become a part of this restoration and development process.

Financial Partners are given the opportunity to Sponsor-a-Station.

Sponsor-a-Child Education Programme (SCEP) - EDUCATION FIRST

This exciting programme gives us the opportunity to give direct attention to one of the greatest challenges in our nation.

We need to do what we can to educate the next generation.
Even with governmental assistance, there are still many families that are not able to support their kids through school.

The SCEP was set up to give basic support to the education process.  Assistance will be given to at least three main areas of need:

  1. School Fees
  2. Uniforms
  3. School Books and Supplies

The children are also given Home Work assistance every Saturday morning by our Children’s Community Transformation Team.

Parents and guardians of the children are required to attend parenting and life-skills seminars prepared specifically for them.

A personal profile will be prepared for each child and included in each package will be the current status and goals of the child.  Progress reports will be presented to parents and sponsors as the child is followed closely through this important process.
Individuals or small groups can sponsor a child and get to know him/her personally.
It is encouraged that the sponsors not only meet the child but also visit us in the community to see and understand more fully the goals and mission of the organization.
